Me!

I am Louise Doherty, and this is my blog.

About this Blog

This blog is designed to be a record of my media-based escapades and musings – work and play. Views are my own, etc.

A Brief History

As a wee nipper I watched too many episodes of Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles. Aged five, I proclaim that April O’Neill is my idol and I’m going to be a journalist. No, seriously.

Writing, public speaking and debating competitions ensued, plus a bit of work experience at a local paper to confirm that journalism was the only possible career path for me. Racked up a selection of pretty good grades at school/college before deciding to pursue broadcast journalism at uni.

Three years, and well in excess of 15,000 words (and £15,000) later, I graduate, a fully fledged, BJTC-qualified journo. I then spent six miserable months job hunting 24/7 and waitressing to survive, only to realise that a degree and four months unpaid work ex does not guarantee media employment.

So I took a PR job with Fubra to keep the bank charges at bay, and realise I actually quite like it. I stayed with Fubra just under 2 years, before moving onto Cow, where I’m currently a Digital Consultant. Or super-massive geek, whatever you want to call it.

About Work

Cow is a brand communications agency with an extensive list of clients including Heinz, Burger King, More Than and Vauxhall. They are PRCA Agency of the Year 2008 and have done a whole host of cool stuff you might have seen.

My job at Cow involves anything and everything online – not just social media and blogger outreach. Many agencies tack digital elements onto offline campaigns as an afterthought, but Cow are working towards a more holistic approach to communications.

I have a few interests outside media. In no particular order of importance:
